Peter Racker was born 1974 in northern Germany, next to the dutch border. His grandpa, an inspector of the tax administration, was a passionated landscape and nature photographer. He often picked Peter up for a photo session. He is the person who connected him at first with the photography.

An uncle was his second contact. He was a master of physic an biology and he visited the grandpa from time to time. By one of those visits he told Peter from his last expedition which was in the polar region within the polar night period. He documented his impressions and everything with some brilliant photos and slides which reflected the fantastic mood of illuminated nights.

These impressions aroused Peter's passion for photography.
